Archery Project is this years Bulls-Eye.

The newly formed Cherokee County 4-H Shooting Sports Committee will be offering the ARCHERY project as the first discipline in the County 4-H Shooting Sports Program. This committee is made up solely from the leaders who have been through the 4-H coaches and instructors training workshops as provided through the State 4-H Shooting Sports Office at Texas A&M.

All Cherokee County 4-H shooting sports projects will be open to any "bonified" 4-H club member, so long as a parent or responsible adult is present with child during each practice and shoot. Members are considered to be "bonified" if they are in compliance with the age requirement of Texas 4-H Rules and Guidelines. Remember 4-H must follow the same UIL regulations that school sports and extra-curricular activities follow, so all students must be passing to participate in practices and competitions.

This project will be taught once a week over six-weeks, therefore there you and your child will have to commit whole-heartedly to attending these six classes. As this is a new program, there will be no make-up classes between meetings or 'on your own' as each member must be supervised by a certified leader for the practice to count towards finishing the project.

All participants will use county archery equipment during six week course; but are free to use their own equipment (pending an initial safety inspection by a certified leader) for practices and competitions thereafter. Graduates will have the option to use county equipment during organized practices and competition with the understanding that they will not be allowed to "check-out" or take home county equipment for private use.

No member will be permitted to compete in ANY (county, district or state) 4-H shooting sports practice or competition without first successfully graduating from this program. Classes will be starting as soon as the equipment is received and cataloged as County 4-H Property. County 4-H Archery Teams members will be selected from those who successfully graduate from the project.

Parents interested letting your kids participate in this project, please contact Clint Anderson via email at clint75925@yahoo.com so that he can get an approximate head count before actually starting the project.
